SafeContractor roll out

A short time ago we shared news that we’re changing the way we interact with our suppliers – selecting Alcumus SafeContractor as our approved accreditation for all on site suppliers and contractors.

The decision to accredit our site-based suppliers using Alcumus SafeContractor was made following a rigorous review of our internal processes and the marketplace for such accreditations. The Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation is robust and seen as the highest standard in the industry.

The joint team, of QHSE and Procurement, decided that to fill the gaps in our supplier compliance we must utilise modern best practice. The benefits to Mitie are not just in the QHSE area, this accreditation helps manage our own insurance risks. Further information can be found on Minet Alcumus SafeContractor page.

Since then, we’ve been contacting our supply base to inform them of the changes, this will continue over the coming weeks. Initial responses from our suppliers have been positive and a number have already completed their registration and are going through the approval process.

From 1 December 2021 we will require all our site-based construction, facilities, sub-contractors to be registered.

Where existing suppliers already have an alternative SSIP accreditation, they still need to complete registration with SafeContractor but will be entitled to a 20% membership discount on their Alcumus registration.  Alternatively, they can use their full SafeContractor accreditation to passport to other SSIP accreditation bodies which will also give them a discount.

If you are contacted by a supplier regarding signing up to Alcumus, please ask them to contact the SafeContractor registration team, quoting Mitie, who will provide full support and guidance through the process: (02920 266223). For any suppliers having issues with registration, they should contact (02920 266242) who is managing this on our behalf.

The Mitie / Alcumus SafeContractor project team meet on a weekly basis to review supplier progress and discuss any issues and will look to manage these on an individual basis.
