Recipe of the Week: Allergy Aware Chocolate Sponge

This week is allergy awareness week, so we’ve chosen a recipe that is delicious and also gluten, dairy, egg, milk and soya free!

Prep time: 5-10mins Baking time: 25mins Serves 8

INGREDIENTSMETHOD
Gluten Free Plain White Flour 190g
Dark Soft Brown Sugar 190g
Cocoa Powder 50g
Baking Powder 1tsp (4g)
Vegetable Oil 190ml
Tap Water 190ml
Vanilla Flavouring 1tsp (4g)

Optional: you can add chocolate chips or fruit like raspberries if you wanted to!
1. Pre-heat oven to 180c fan.

2. Combine all of the dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl

3. Add the oil, water and vanilla flavouring to the dry ingredients and mix well until you have a smooth batter

4. Grease and line a cake tin, then spread the mix into it evenly

5. Bake in the oven for 18-25 minutes – or until a cocktail stick or knife pulls out of the cake clean!

Note: You can bake this as a round cake or as a traybake in a square tin.
