Article 1 March 2021 Our Wins at the 2021 OSPA’s Thursday 25 February was another night of virtual glitz and glamor for or Security Team, at the prestigious Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs). Having been shortlisted for 11 awards across seven unique categories, but coming off the back of a successful 2020 awards year, it was going to be a hard act to follow. But the team did not fall short with two significant wins on the night. The event started well, with one of the early awards going to Mitie and Sainsbury’s Blitz Teams, winning “Outstanding Security Team” for the innovative approach to tackling incidents at high crime stores. Here is what the team did. “Mitie’s training program supports store detectives in conducting external and internal investigations to a high standard, this can be following information related to shrink or till loss identified by the customer. Working with Sainsbury’s and Mitie’s crime data has enabled the team to plan operations utilising “BLITZ” teams across the estate. BLITZ teams were comprised of a group of store detectives, all with shop floor and internal investigations experience, ensuring the effective and efficient approach to tackling crime in the most high-risk stores. The BLITZ team was deployed for a two-week period, in which time they produced some excellent results, including 35 arrests, with 9 made in just one day.” The last award of the night was the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award and was presented to our very own Jason Towse, Managing Director of Business Services. Jason was secretly nominated by his leadership team, leading to shock and surprise when he was named the winner. Below is part of what the team submitted for his nomination. “Jason Towse has dedicated his career to the security industry. His journey began with his own company, offering retail detective services to major high street retailers. In 2001 he joined Chubb where he excelled in several leadership roles, including Regional Director, Operations Director and Commercial Director.
