Meet the Stars: Jamie Marshall

Jamie Marshall (left), Helpdesk Team Leader, BAE Systems contract, was awarded a Mitie Star for his work in stepping up as Team Leader during the new contract mobilisation. Earlier this year, Mitie secured the multi-million-pound, five-year contract to provide a full integrated facilities management (FM) service to BAE Systems.

Jamie was asked to go over to be Team Leader for the helpdesk based at the TSOC in April. However, when the Manager on the team also left at the same time, Jamie stepped up as overall Helpdesk Manager and for four months led on the day-to-day running of the team, partaking in the SLT meetings, recruiting for the team and also going out on site visits. Jamie was awarded the star for stepping up and running the helpdesk and putting everything in place for the team.

“It’s easy to get lost in the challenges of contract mobilisation and with the number of tasks to be completed. Within that, little attention is paid to the team of people that support it and deliver day in day out. Jamie navigated a challenging few months without having a direct line manager to support him, recruited a full HD / Scheduling and Admin team and supported them through their first few weeks and months, whilst delivering operationally and not dropping any of the many spinning plates. His dedication to the contract, to his direct reports and to Mitie is wonderful. He greets the day with a smile and takes any issues as opportunities and I’m very grateful to be working closely with him” – Lexi, Jamie’s manager.
