LiveSafe Focus for November: Always Wear the Correct PPE

Here at Mitie, safety is our number one priority and our goal is simple… zero harm – to our people, our customers, and to members of the public passing through the facilities we take care of. This means workplaces where nobody gets hurt, ever. It means making sure that everyone goes home to their families at the end of each shift or working day without having suffered or caused harm in any way.

The LiveSafe Rules tell us how we can achieve this:

This month, we’re focussing on the LiveSafe rule: Always wear the correct PPE for the task being executed.

Every employee must ALWAYS:

  • Wear the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) correctly for the task you are carrying out
  • Stop the job and intervene if you are not sure what PPE is required – refer to the risk assessment or speak  with your line manager
  • Stop the job and intervene if you are not given the correct PPE – do not continue with the task until you  have the correct PPE
  • Wear PPE which has not been modified – modifying PPE may reduce its protective properties
  • Inspect your PPE regularly to ensure it is in good condition

Your PPE is your last line of defence should an accident occur.

Safety is everybody’s responsibility. The LiveSafe rules may save your life and the lives of the people you work with. We owe it to ourselves, our families and our colleagues to put the LiveSafe rules into practice every single day of our working lives, wherever we are, and in whatever we do.

LiveSafe training is mandatory for all employees. Make sure you log into Learning Hub and complete the training if you haven’t already.
