Help us reach 4,000 volunteering hours this October

Together as #OneMitie, we can make a positive difference to our communities. Mitie has committed to complete 12,400 volunteering hours by the end of March 2022. But covid restrictions have had a big impact on us getting out there, and spending time helping our community, so we’re behind the target we’ve set for ourselves. So, we’re sending out a rallying cry for your assistance!

This October we’re launching an ambitious GivingBack campaign. We want to achieve 4,000 colleague volunteering hours in one month! That works out to 600 colleague volunteering days! And help us achieve 1/3 of our target, bringing us back on course to smash our goal.

With Covid restrictions lifted and we settle into the British Autumn, it’s a great opportunity to get out and use your annual volunteering day (for eligible colleagues) to make a positive contribution to our local communities.

Volunteering Ideas

We know you’re all very busy and may want to volunteer, but can’t find the time to plan an activity, so we’ve done some of the work for you.

Mitie Litter Pick

This October we’re running the pilot of the Mitie Litter Pick. There are dates available in Bristol, London and Manchester for you to sign up to. This pilot pick is a precursor to the Mitie Big Spring clean, that our Landscapes and Waste businesses are championing.

Food Banks

The Trussell Trust manage the largest network of food banks in the UK. With Harvest Festival falling in the month of October, why not reach out to your local food bank and find out how you can support it.  Details of your local food bank can be found on https://www.trusselltrust.org

Education

Schools are back in session. There is no better time to give your time and support students to navigate the daunting world of work.

Macmillan Supporter calls

Volunteers will make phone calls to Macmillan’s supporters who have hosted a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. The primary aim of the call is to thank them for all they have done.

Volunteers can give two hours of their time to make the calls. You will need to attend a Macmillan (virtual) induction that takes 20 minutes. The calls can be delivered Monday – Friday, between 18 October – 19 November. Sign up here

Set up your own event
