Covid update, February 2022

This week the Government announced changes to Covid rules for England. In Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland the decision to ease Covid measures is running on different timescales.

I wanted to update you on the latest guidance so that we can keep ourselves, our colleagues, and our families safe. The main changes are:

If you test positive or are symptomatic:

From Thursday you do not need to stay at home if you have Covid, but the recommendation is to stay at home for at least 5 days. You are advised to take a lateral flow test on the fifth and sixth day. I’d strongly encourage you to remain at home if you test positive or are symptomatic. You should report any sick absences in the usual way, and you will receive statutory or enhanced sick pay according to your usual entitlements.

Covid testing:

Free Covid testing for all ends in April, although those considered vulnerable will continue to have access to this service.

Statutory sick pay:

The temporary enhancements to the Statutory Sick Pay arrangements will cease from 24 March.

At Mitie, we want everyone to feel as safe as possible. In our buildings, you will continue to see several Covid safety measures remaining in place, including our enhanced air purifying systems, additional technical cleaning, and in some offices temperature checking will continue. Some local/client site requirements will also remain, including mask wearing, so please continue to observe those obligations for the benefit of you, your colleagues, and clients.

As mentioned in my last Covid update, we expect our colleagues to be working in accordance with our agreed flexible working policies, with office-based colleagues in place at least three days a week.

I very much hope that this marks a positive step forward. Over the last two years we have seen a great many changes and restrictions for all of us. We’ve continued to keep Britain moving over this period and played a significant part to support the national response to the pandemic. My huge thanks to everybody for playing their part in keeping us safe and enabling Mitie to continue to deliver the exceptional every day.
