Count on Us: Can I Say?

Count Me In, our Diversity & Inclusion learning campaign is designed to help make Mitie a place where all colleagues can bring their true selves to work.

Our current phase, Count on Us, is all about team culture. For a team to be successful, it requires a safe environment where colleagues feel valued for who they are, not fearful of being judged, invalidated, or experiencing discrimination. This phase focuses on promoting an environment where it’s safe to speak up, increasing empathy, and improving team relationships.

One of the best ways to create a more inclusive team is to have conversations that help you get to know and understand each other’s backgrounds. So we hope you’ve been getting to know your team better with the Sparking Conversations Team Talk.

A happy working environment where jokes flow and everyone has reasons to laugh is a part of the inclusive culture we are building at Mitie. But this environment can only be sustained when we understand when a conversation, comment or ‘banter’ goes too far.

Our next activity for Count on Us helps us achieve this. Can I Say? guides us through comments you would typically hear in the workplace and asks you to answer the simple question of whether it’s ok or not ok to say. You’ll be surprised at some of the results.

Don’t forget all the activities that are part of Count Me In, and the additional Read Watch Listen Do resources can be found on the Count Me In site, mitiepeople.com/countmein
