Board members meet colleagues delivering vital services at DWP

Earlier this month, Jenny Duvalier and Salma Shah, Non-Executive Directors for Mitie visited Caxton House and spoke to colleagues working on the DWP contract.

Jenny and Salma met with colleagues working in a range of different roles at on the DWP contract from apprentices to cleaners and engineers, to hear about what is working well at Mitie and what could be improved.

Colleagues discussed the positive experience they had when being Tuped over from Interserve, how managers on the contract support them and their positive experience of working with DWP colleagues. They also discussed improvements that could be made to reward and recognition, equipment they need to carry out their jobs and knowing where to go to get access to training opportunities and vacancies.

Jenny and Salma also had a tour of DWP, meeting Mitie colleagues working in different roles across the contract, and checking out the post room, the main office and even the ministerial floor!

Jenny said:

“I was struck by how the Mitie and DWP Estates team demonstrated a ‘one team’ ethos and by the strong sense of shared commitment to the DWP community. Everyone we met emphasised the positive, supportive culture as the reason they enjoy their work, a credit to every member of the team.”

Tina Heagren, Facilities Manager on the DWP account said:

“It was really good to host the visit of Jenny, Salma at Caxton. The visit offered me the opportunity to showcase my site and my team.

“Jenny and Salma took the opportunity to walk the building and in doing so met our customers and colleagues, there was some really good interaction with our team and good feedback from the customer on service delivery.

“Jenny and Salma held a listening session with members of the cleaning, MSOs, engineering and management team. The listening session was well received by all, this allowed the team to provide feedback on working for Mitie.”

Jenny Duvalier is responsible for ensuring that the ‘colleague voice’ is considered in Board discussions and decisions.

Over the last 12 months she has been out visiting many of you up and down the country both virtually and in-person where possible to hear about your experiences of working at Mitie.
